More on Mizuho

Things to clarify about Mizuho brand, ranked top so far in my experience. The label says that it is made out of Taiwanese hôrai rice, a variety of Japanese origin brought to the island during colonial time and localized. How does this apparently short grain rice fits with the need for dry non-sticky hard type of rice to make Awamori? Unfortunately, I have found no clue on this matter, and the distillery or online shops do not refer or expand on that particularity of a very exotic brand.
