Zuisen 30%

Learning, learning. It seems that aged, real aged, hundred percent aged Awamori is a rarity. The war destroyed whatever stock were left. As read in a book recently, aged Awamori or Kusu of 10 or maybe 25 years old maximum do not show any date on the bottle. The question then is, when do you start counting those years that sum up to 10 or more?
Contemporary kusu is a mix of various aged Awamori. That is why when looking in details at the labels on kusu bottle, one can find such claim as containing 55% kusu, meaning as I understand that the 45% left is brand new Awamori. I have not had enough experience so far with kusu, but this one on the picture was fine. It is produced by Zuisen Distillery. It has a mellow and rich nose very smoothing.
